What type of clay are your products made of?
That Clay Girl Co. handmade products are made of polymer clay. Each pair of earrings is one-of-a-kind. This type of clay is versatile and easy to work with. Once it has been made/molded to the desired shape, it is oven baked. This clay is made of polymers, resins, coloring agents and fillers. It is man-made from a plastic, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) base. Other materials that may be added to our clay products are: fringe tassels, pom poms, acrylic pieces, brass charms, among other jewelry findings. Due to all of my clay products being handmade, there may be slight imperfections, like tiny air bubbles. However, I will never list/sell any products that I wouldn't wear or are too imperfect.
To seal the earring backs, the backs are sealed with Oven Bake Clay Adhesive.
What are your earrings posts/jump rings made of?
Every earring listed will specify the materials used. I source my materials from shops who state the findings are both nickel and lead free.
The silver/gold earring posts/jump rings that are nickel-free and lead free. The jump rings contain metal alloy.
I now offer clip on earrings in two different styles! Flat post clip on backs are baked into the clay. These backs are white plated brass. The other clip on option is a stud-like style with a hook to dangle materials from. These backs are made of brass and plated with silver or gold.
Hair clips could be made of nickel plated metal, iron, or gold metal.
If you have any questions about a certain pair of earrings, please don't hesitate to ask.
How do I care for/clean my earrings?
Treat your polymer clay earrings with gentle care. On occasion, these earrings could break if dropped or bent. This may happen to the earrings that are on the heavier side (only a couple are).
However, polymer clay is very pliable. If your earrings do completely break/shatter, please contact me and we will resolve it.
To clean, gently rub with a soft, wet piece of cloth or wipe. Clean with caution if earrings have acrylic paint or decorative flakes.
Highly recommend not wearing during showering/bathing and/or swimming etc.
Do not expose to high temperatures for long periods of time.
Avoid direct contact with creams and perfumes.
What if my polymer clay cracks or breaks? (other damages)
Polymer clay is very pliable, but with anything, there is always that chance a product could break. Some clay colors bake harder than others, but for the most part the clay is bendy/pliable. If your earrings, keychains, or barrettes do completely break/shatter, please contact me and we will resolve it.
After shipment, if your earrings come broken in any way shape or form, please contact me and we will resolve it.
Can I order a custom pair of earrings or other accessories?
Totally! If you see something you like and want to add or change something or have a specific idea in mind, please contact me and we will discuss how we can make your custom idea come to life! I've even made custom earrings for my customers inspired by their artwork, so whatever your idea may be, let's create it T
